Dit is een nieuwe lijn binnen het outcrossproject van de Saarlooswolfhond.
Dit keer met Ghost, een aangekeurde American Wolfdog.
Outcross is het gefaseerd en druppelsgewijs inkruisen van onverwante dieren onder gecontroleerde omstandigheden.
Na selectie van de nakomelingen uit de outcross en terugkruising op raszuivere Saarlooswolfhonden is er na een aantal generaties uiterlijk geen verschil meer met de raszuivere populatie.
Outcross heeft veel voordelen. Door de verwantschap terug te dringen, neemt de inteelt drastisch af.
De vitaliteit en de lichamelijke weerstand nemen toe, evenals de vruchtbaarheid en de genetische variatie. Hierdoor worden tevens erfelijke afwijkingen teruggedrongen. Slechts een klein deel ‘vreemd bloed’ is daarvoor nodig.
Een outcross hond is een bijzondere rashond, want deze honden zijn gefokt met een extra doel:

‘Het waarborgen van de gezondheid van ons ras, een ras dat een stuk nationaal erfgoed vertegenwoordigt.’

Het spreekt vanzelf dat de AVLS deze outcrosshonden in de toekomst niet verloren wil laten gaan en graag
ingezet ziet worden voor behoud van de Saarlooswolfhond.
Omdat het een speciaal project betreft zoeken we voor de puppy’s mensen die aan de outcross mee willen werken.
Dat betekent dat de puppy’s op de leeftijd van ca. 10 en 18-24 maanden door de selectiecommissie worden gekeurd qua gezondheid, karakter en uiterlijk.
Op de leeftijd van ongeveer 24 maanden zal worden besloten met welke honden verder wordt gefokt mits hij/zij aan alle medische gezondheidseisen voldoet en een stabiel karakter heeft.
Er kan een beroep op u als eigenaar worden gedaan uw hond in te zetten, een reu als dekreu en een teef voor een eenmalig nestje.
Zo kunt u bijdragen aan de toekomst van dit bijzondere ras.

Vitality and physical resistance increase, as well as fertility and genetic variation. This also reduces hereditary abnormalities. Only a small amount of 'foreign blood' is needed for this. An outcross dog is a special pedigree dog, because these dogs are bred with an additional goal:
'Ensuring the health of our breed, a breed that represents a piece of national heritage.'
It goes without saying that the AVLS does not want to lose these outcross dogs in the future and would like to see them used to preserve the Saarlooswolfdog.
Because it is a special project, we are looking for people who want to work on the outcross for the puppies.
This means that the puppies will be assessed by the selection committee at the age of approximately 10 and 18-24 months for health, character and appearance.
At the age of approximately 24 months, it will be decided which dogs will be used for further breeding, provided that he/she meets all medical health requirements and has a stable character.
You as the owner can be called upon to use your dog, a male as a stud and a female for a one-off litter.
